Research OpportunityWe encourage astronomy educators to apply for a paid travel fellowship program to research historic documents related to the transit of Venus. The Andrew W. Mellon Travel Fellowship Program will provide travel expenses and a reasonable per diem to researchers who have well-defined research projects that can be served by the 90,000-volume holdings of the History of Science Collections at the University of Oklahoma. Please consider studying the transit of Venus through this paid fellowship, which is available for qualifying projects for periods ranging from two to eight weeks.
In preparation of the 2004 transit of Venus, we are compiling digital images for distribution both electronically and in slide sets. Your contribution to this effort is greatly appreciated. Transitofvenus.org asks any researcher who pursues this research opportunity to forward digitized images and research results to this website for timely broadcast to fellow educators. Please feel free to contact us if we can support your application in any way.
